Brooke Slunt Brooke Slunt, our head instructor, has been involved with horses for over 40 years and has been teaching for over 25 years. She rides as well as teaches both western and English disciplines and also teaches horse care, first aid and basic horse training. She is certified in Therapeutic Riding by North American Riding for the Handicapped (NARHA) and is current with her First Aid and CPR certifications. Brooke has been teaching therapeutic riding for six years. She taught for several years at the Therapeutic Recreational Riding Center of Glenwood as well as Andover Equestrian Center in Linthicum, MD.
Brooke enjoys trail riding, team penning and sorting. She can start students in western speed events, basic dressage, and jumping.
Previously, as well as an instructor, she was assistant to the owner of another farm where she also ran the public trail riding business. There she was responsible for matching riders with the appropriate horse, feeding, grooming and tacking all of the trail horses, and acting as a trail guide for as many as 25 riders at a time. She also maintained a fully stocked tack shop and worked with retail customers showing horses in the owner's absence.
She has also organized and orchestrated a fundraiser called Play Day which included games on horseback, raffles and food booths. Average participation was approximately 100 riders.
Brooke has four horses of her own: Messy, Jelly Bean, Bricks, and Sailor. |
